Note: Some dice pools cannot produce extreme values because their minimum equals the number of dice rolled. For example, 10d10 can never roll below 10.

Understanding Dice Distributions

d100 (flat): Every result from 1-100 has equal probability (~1%). This creates a uniform, flat line.

Dice pools: When you sum multiple dice, the distribution forms a bell curve. More dice = tighter curve around the mean. This is the Central Limit Theorem in action!

1d1000 → 1-100: Rolling a d1000 and mapping to 1-100 still produces a flat distribution—more resolution doesn't create bell-curve behavior.

Try it: Compare 25d4 vs 5d20. Both can reach similar totals, but 25d4 clusters tightly around 62-63, while 5d20 spreads more evenly across its range.
